Why asking early changes everything
Time is the one thing that really counts. Ask for help early and you keep far more options open — and far more say in how it goes.
Straight, professional guidance drawn from our work — general in nature, never about a real case, and written for the owner carrying more than anyone sees.
When a bankruptcy or insolvency lands, it’s natural to see the insolvency practitioner (IP) or Official Receiver as the enemy — someone to be fought, resisted, kept at arm’s length. Understandable, but usually a mistake. In our experience, a calm and cooperative approach — properly advised — protects you better than a fight ever could.
An IP has a job to do and a duty to the creditors. None of that changes by digging in. What a measured, well-prepared approach does change is the tone and the speed of the whole process: give the IP what they reasonably need, present your position clearly and in order, and you are far more likely to reach a sensible outcome — and to be believed when a figure or a valuation genuinely doesn’t look right.
Cooperation doesn’t mean rolling over. It means engaging on the front foot: knowing what you’re being asked, checking the costs and the valuation behind a demand, and putting a calm, evidenced case rather than an argument. Done well, that often achieves more than confrontation, at a fraction of the cost and stress.
This is where we come in. We act as your single point of contact, handle the correspondence and the difficult conversations, and work constructively alongside the IP and your own accountant — so you’re cooperating from a position of knowledge, not fear. The result is usually a smoother process, a fairer figure, and a lot less sleepless worry.
If a process has started, a few steady first steps help: don’t panic, don’t ignore the letters, and get the whole picture reviewed before you respond. There is almost always a sensible way through.

Even in insolvency, valuations and demands should be correct. We help make sure they are — calmly, and through the proper channels, working with the practitioner rather than against them.
